…and a nice glass of wine
Our Wine
Our wine bears the name of our agritourism: ‘Fornace Del Conte’. A typical Tuscan red wine with a refined, distinctive character.
The location, the soil, the vines
Our vineyard is located on the south side, below the Fornace Del Conte, with a direct view of Montepulciano, just a few kilometres away. Sixty to eighty-year-old vines grow on one hectare of loamy, highly mineralised soil: mostly Sangiovese, plus a few rows of Canaiolo, Mammolo and Merlot – the traditional blend for a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
Organic cultivation
Since taking over in 2023, we have been cultivating the vineyard organically. We are currently in the second of a total of three years of the official certification phase. The ripe grapes are harvested by hand. Quality always takes precedence over quantity: only the best grapes are sent to the press. All the rest are used for natural fertilisation of the soil.
Since the 2025 vintage, we have been working with Luca Tiberini from the Tiberini Winery, one of the most renowned organic winemakers in Tuscany. In order to further improve quality, we have selected the grapes even more carefully before and during the harvest than in previous years.
The vintages
After a 2023 vintage that was not very productive due to weather conditions but very pleasing in terms of quality, the 2024 vintage was significantly more productive and again very convincing in terms of quality.
Compared to the previous year, the ‘Fornace Del Conte 2024’ is slightly lighter (13%), yet pleasantly fresh due to its balanced acidity.
On the nose, it offers aromas of plum, wild berries and vine wood. On the palate and finish, it displays a harmonious balance of acidity, tannins and alcohol.
